FEATHER AND DOWN DUVETS
INSTEAD OF AN INTRODUCTION – WHAT DO FLYERS USE TO COVER THEMSELVES?
Considering that the air temperature drops about 10°C per kilometer, and the birds reach the height of a few thousand meters during their flight, it is clear that nature has put them in a unique material that is at the same time light and with excellent heat-insulating properties. This allows them to adapt to the temperature difference at the ground and in the heights. Therefore, it is not surprising that feathers and down are still unsurpassed fillers and synonymous with quality quilts and pillows.
In Schlafgarten we have used this evolutionary creation of nature to provide uncompromising comfort and cuddly warmth in all seasons.
THE OUTER LAYER – TEXTILE OF DENSE AND THINNED WEAVING IS A STRONG, BUT TENDER PROTECTOR
The Schlafgarten Senso quilt has a dense woven textile that prevents the loss of fillers and thus maintains its composition over many years of use and washing. It is common for denser fabrics to have the side-effects of heaviness, stiffness, and inflexibility, which are impermissible properties for modern duvets. If such a fabric were only thinned, we would adjust the softness and achieve lightness, but in the long run the duvet would be unusable because it would be worn by use. The Schlafgarten duvet has a dense, fine and lightweight fabric that allows for an unobtrusive adaptation of the blanket to the sleeping anatomy, which is achieved through special technological procedures, and through which we have achieved durability and resistance to abrasion. The resulting linen is perfect for the task that presents the challenge of a high-quality duvet – it keeps the filler, is soft and comfortable and ultimately uninhabitable for mites and small allergens.
THE INNER LAYER – THE INCOMPARABLE SIMPICITY THAT MAKES ONE WARM
Why is down so superior? If you look at the structure of the feathers and the down, you will find that the large number of tiny threads that hold the air around them are a strong insulator, and thanks to a neutral electrostatic charge, this filler is not hospitable to mites. Feathers and down are not only extremely lightweight and elastic, they also have a great potential for regeneration, which promises the longevity of the product. However, when selecting a quilt and pillow bearing the declaration of a lightweight feather filler, one should be cautious as feathers and down do not have identical characteristics, and therefore their ratio in the fillings significantly affects the quality and properties. Put simply, the higher the down percentage, the better the quality. Our FEATHER AND DOWN duvet has up to 70% goose down and only 30% heavier and stiffer feathers. For this reason, the Schlafgarten duvet is extremely light, airy and ventilated, removing moisture from the body of the sleeper while retaining warm air.
INSTEAD OF A CONCLUSION – AN ALL SEASON “RESIDENT”
Due to its unsurpassed airy structure, this is a quit that does not migrate in the winter from storage room to bed but is used throughout the year as it maintains the same temperature and ventilation regardless of the ambient conditions. It is a real resident bird in your bed that will comfortably cover you during the seasons and leave an unobtrusive feeling of comfort on your body.
We produce the FEATHER AND DOWN duvet in two standard sizes of 200×140 and 200×200 cm. For our tall sleepers, who are already sleeping on our large mattresses, we will make compatible extended duvets with a length of 220 cm.
